Gabriela Kandziora, the owner of Pravda, has owned two salons previously:  Luxus Mode, 2340 NW Westover Rd,  from 1-1991 to 4-1996 and Dolce 2328 NW Westover Rd, from 11-1996 to 4-2006--voted "One of the Top Ten Salons in Portland" in 2006, by Portland Magazine.  Gabriela has apprenticed many very successful stylists/colorists/manicurists/facialists at her salons.  Many of these people have gone on to create highly successful salons on their own!    It gives Gabriela great pleasure in knowing that she was a part of their success.

Pravda is the culmination of many years of experience and hard work.  At this point in her career, Gabriela wishes to and has the clientele to only focus on her craft....in other words, Gabriela wishes to have more time to devote to her clientele and less time on managing a large salon with staff and many more responsibilities!  With a smaller boutique salon, such as Pravda, there is much time to devote to hair cutting and coloring! 

The name Pravda came about over a martini lunch at the now no-longer Brasserie Montmarte...such a fabulous French Restaurant.  Gabriela and her former partner decided to find a name for the European Boutique Salon that would convey strength, truth, integrity, precision, confidence....yet the name also needed to flow softly when spoken, so as to create a vision of sensuality...artistic creativity, boldness....a knowing of things on the cutting edge.

With a resounding "Na Zdrowie!" and the clinking of their martini glasses, Pravda became the name of the new salon.  Pravda is a Polish word meaning "truth".....

At Pravda, you will always receive the truth about your hair and makeup.

Each year the stylists at Pravda travel to Europe or around the U.S. to learn about hair styling and hair coloring.  From these trips we get inspiration and education....and we bring back cutting-edge styles from some of the most exciting nightclubs, fashion/shopping avenues, and parties frequented by native European urbanites.

Each visit to Pravda,  you will have a consultation with your stylist about your hair, hair color, and home hair-care regime.  This will ensure that you will receive the best-suited  style and color for the current fashion trends and that you will be utilizing the best possible hair-care products, for your hair. Pravda is intimate and charming with a much calmer pace than large salons, yet we turn on the intensity where it really counts:  in perfecting your hair style and color!  At Pravda we  specialize in creating a long-term relationship with you, our valued client.

Throughout the year you may see an apprentice working and learning at Pravda.This is an exciting chapter in our industry that we will be re-introducing.  You may have an assistant shampoo your hair  and then  watch Vania or Gabriela cut/color/style your hair.  In our European Boutique approach, we wish to bring back the "Exclusive Salon Training at Pravda" that is very lacking in the  Portland salon industry.  At our first salon, Luxus Mode, we apprenticed and developed many successful stylists, several becoming salon owners themselves!
